Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Get Sorted service (getsorted.tax), operated by W Technologies Ltd (“Get Sorted”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use Get Sorted.
2. Service description
Get Sorted is a Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance software-as-a-service for UK self-employed sole traders. The service enables you to:
- •Connect your bank account via Open Banking to retrieve transactions.
- •Upload and categorise receipts and expenses using AI.
- •Submit quarterly MTD updates and final declarations to HMRC.
- •Connect with accountants through our marketplace.
3. Subscription and pricing
Get Sorted offers the following plans:
- •Trial: Free 7-day trial with full access. No credit card required.
- •Core — £1.95/month: Bank connection, transaction categorisation, quarterly MTD submissions, receipt OCR.
- •Plus — £4.95/month: Everything in Core, plus accountant marketplace access, advanced reporting, and priority support.
Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. Prices are inclusive of any applicable VAT. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' written notice to existing subscribers. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
4. MTD compliance — your responsibility
Get Sorted is software that facilitates your compliance with Making Tax Digital obligations. You remain solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the financial data you submit to HMRC. We transmit only the data you provide or approve.
You are responsible for:
- •Ensuring all income and expenses are accurately recorded.
- •Reviewing AI-suggested categories before submission.
- •Meeting quarterly MTD deadlines (we provide reminders as a courtesy only).
- •Maintaining records as required by HMRC for 5 years after the filing deadline.
Get Sorted is not liable for HMRC penalties, interest, or enquiries arising from inaccurate or late submissions.
5. We are software, not tax advisers
Get Sorted is not a tax adviser, accountant, or regulated financial service. Nothing in the service constitutes tax, legal, or financial advice. AI-generated suggestions for expense categories, deductions, or tax estimates are illustrative only and do not constitute professional advice.
If you have complex tax affairs or are uncertain about your obligations, you should consult a qualified accountant or tax adviser. The accountant marketplace connects you with independent professionals — Get Sorted is not responsible for advice given by those accountants.
6. HMRC relationship
Get Sorted is a third-party software provider authorised to connect to HMRC's Making Tax Digital API on your behalf. We act as your agent only for the technical transmission of data you have approved. HMRC does not endorse Get Sorted or guarantee the accuracy of data we transmit.
Your HMRC Government Gateway credentials are never stored by Get Sorted. We use OAuth tokens issued by HMRC, which you can revoke at any time via your HMRC online account.
7. Accountant marketplace
The Get Sorted accountant marketplace allows you to engage independent accountants. Get Sorted is a platform only — we are not a party to any engagement between you and an accountant, and we are not liable for advice, errors, or omissions by any accountant on the platform.
Accountants on the marketplace are independent professionals. You should verify their qualifications and agree terms directly with them. Any fees payable to accountants are separate from Get Sorted subscription fees.
8. Data processing
By using Get Sorted, you authorise us to process your financial and personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. This includes connecting to your bank, processing receipts through AI, and transmitting data to HMRC.
We will never sell your personal or financial data to third parties.
You warrant that you have the right to provide all data you input into Get Sorted.
9. Acceptable use
You must not use Get Sorted to:
- •Submit false or fraudulent information to HMRC.
- •Attempt to access another user's account or data.
- •Reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the service.
- •Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
10. Availability and service levels
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. We are not liable for any losses arising from downtime, data loss, or service interruptions. We will endeavour to provide advance notice of planned maintenance.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Get Sorted's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the service is limited to the subscription fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Get Sorted is not liable for: indirect or consequential losses; HMRC penalties, interest, or surcharges; loss of data (beyond reasonable recovery efforts); or losses arising from your reliance on AI-generated categorisations or estimates.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Accuracy Guarantee
Get Sorted offers an Accuracy Guarantee to active Core and Plus subscribers. If HMRC issues a penalty or requires a correction as a direct result of an error in Get Sorted's software or submission process, we will correct the submission and reimburse any resulting penalty, subject to the conditions below.
The Accuracy Guarantee covers: errors in our submission software or API integration; incorrect application of HMRC-published mileage rates or home office flat rates; failed or duplicate submissions caused by our systems; and missed deadlines where the user submitted on time within the app but our system failed to forward the submission to HMRC before the deadline.
The Accuracy Guarantee does not cover: penalties arising from incorrectly categorised transactions, missing income or transactions, manually entered figures, submissions the user chose to delay past the deadline, or penalties relating to periods before the user joined Get Sorted.
To make a claim, email hello@getsorted.tax with the subject line "Accuracy Guarantee Claim" and attach the HMRC penalty notice within 30 days of receiving it. We will investigate within 2 working days and, where the fault is ours, reimburse the penalty amount directly. The Accuracy Guarantee does not apply to trial accounts.

13. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will retain access until then. We do not offer pro-rata refunds for partial months.
If you cancel during the trial period, no charge is made. Your account and data are retained for 30 days after cancellation, after which they are permanently deleted unless you resubscribe.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email with at least 14 days' notice. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
