Accuracy Guarantee

If we get it wrong, we fix it — at no cost to you.

The promise

If HMRC issues a penalty or requires a correction as a direct result of an error in Get Sorted's software or submission process, we will correct the submission and cover any associated penalty — at no cost to you.

What's covered

Submission errors caused by our software

If a bug or technical fault in Get Sorted causes your quarterly update to be submitted incorrectly or with malformed data, we fix it and cover any resulting penalty.

Incorrect HMRC mileage rates

If we apply the wrong HMRC-approved mileage rate (currently 45p for the first 10,000 miles, 25p thereafter) and this causes an error, we cover it.

Wrong home office flat rates

If we apply incorrect HMRC flat rates for use of home as office and this leads to a penalty, we cover it.

Failed or duplicate submissions

If our system submits a quarter more than once, or fails to submit when you triggered it and a deadline is missed as a result, we cover the late filing penalty.

Deadline misses caused by our system

If you submitted on time within the app but our system failed to forward it to HMRC before the deadline, we cover the penalty.

What's not covered

Incorrectly categorised transactions

If you (or AI categorisation you approved) marked a personal expense as business, or misclassified income, that falls outside the guarantee.

Missing transactions

If your bank sync missed a period due to a disconnected account, or you didn't log cash income, we can't guarantee the submission reflects your full picture.

Manually entered figures

Any numbers you type directly into the app are your responsibility. The guarantee covers our calculations, not your inputs.

Late submissions you chose to delay

If the deadline passed and you hadn't submitted despite reminders, the late penalty is not covered.

Penalties from prior periods

The guarantee applies to submissions made through Get Sorted going forward — not to historical filings made elsewhere.

How to make a claim

Forward the HMRC notice

Email us at hello@getsorted.tax with the subject line "Accuracy Guarantee Claim" and attach the penalty notice from HMRC.

We investigate within 2 working days

We'll review whether the error originated in our software or submission process.

We fix it and cover the cost

If the fault is ours, we file the corrected submission and reimburse any penalty directly to your bank account.

Claim window: Claims must be submitted within 30 days of receiving the HMRC penalty notice. The guarantee applies to active Core and Plus subscribers. Trial accounts are not covered.
